Agriculture contributes $50 million to the local economy each year. Henderson County is also a major producer of the state’s oil and coal.

The largest hackberry tree in Kentucky is in Henderson, near the seventh hole on the Henderson Municipal Golf Course.

The first settlers originally referred to Henderson as Red Banks because of its high and safe position above the Ohio River.

Even though Henderson is geographically located in Kentucky, it is part of the Evansville, Ind., metropolitan statistical area.

Daniel Boone was among the first group of settlers to explore this area of wooded hills and lush vegetation.

Riverboats stop in Henderson more than any other city on the Ohio River.
